About the IY-LAW Law Review

IY-LAW Review is the world’s first, largest, and most prestigious international law review for high school students. Our mission is to educate, engage, and empower young legal minds by making legal concepts accessible and relevant to everyday life. Through our publication, we encourage students to explore the intersection of law, society, and personal insight.


Content Categories

We welcome legal writing in various forms, including:

  • Articles & Essays: Legal analyses, opinion pieces, and explainer articles that break down complex legal topics.
  • Case Summaries & Court Decisions: Reviews of Supreme Court cases, recent rulings, or notable mock trial discussions.
  • Current Legal Issues & Debates: Ethical dilemmas, new laws and policies, and law as a tool for advocacy.
  • Interviews & Guest Contributions: Conversations with legal professionals or guest articles from law students and experts.
  • Research on the History and Origins of Law: Studies on legal history and the evolution of legal institutions.

Submissions must be sent via email to contact@iylaw.org. We strongly recommend submitting well in advance of deadlines.

Publication Schedule

The IY-LAW Law Review is released quarterly—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each issue features between seven and ten high-quality articles.

  • Spring Edition: March 30th

  • Summer Edition: July 30th

  • Fall Edition: October 30th

  • Winer Edition: January 30th


Entry Requirements

Submissions are open to high school students worldwide. Teachers, mentors, or legal professionals may also submit guest articles.

Entries are accepted year-round from mid-August to the end of June.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions must be in Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF format, double-spaced, and between 800 and 2,000 words (excluding bibliography). The preferred font is Times New Roman, size 12. Citations should follow Bluebook or MLA style.

Each submission must be accompanied by a cover letter summarizing the work and any relevant credentials.

The filename must follow this format:
FirstName-LastName-TitleOfSubmission.pdf
(For example, Jane Doe submitting Exploring Constitutional Rights should name her file: Jane-Doe-ExploringConstitutionalRights.pdf.)

The candidate’s name should NOT appear within the document itself.

Review Process

All submissions undergo a thorough review by legal educators and professionals. Submissions will be evaluated based on:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the topic
  • Quality of argumentation and use of evidence
  • Originality and persuasive force
  • Structure and writing style

Selected entries may receive feedback for revision before publication.

Benefits of Submission

Publication in the IY-LAW Law Review enhances legal research and writing skills, provides global recognition, and strengthens college applications. Published authors will have their work featured on the IY-LAW Law Review website.
